Clear Pierced Rock Resin Sculpture - 130cm by Giant Sculptures, a tall perforated abstract form on a white marble block base, shown against a plain light background.
Clear Pierced Rock Resin Sculpture - 130cm $2,56600
Description

A vertical rock worked through with openings from every side, the passages running clean from one face to another rather than stopping inside. Colourless throughout, so the openings read as shadow and the solid between them as light. Two supports are supplied, both in white marble: a square block, and under it a broad, thin slab of the same stone.

A Rock Made of Its Own Openings

Every opening takes material the rock still has to stand on, so the solid between them is drawn heavier than the outline suggests. That is why the piece looks light and is not. A body pierced from every side is why the colour matters so little here: what the eye follows is the run of the openings, and a clear casting keeps them all visible at once. Worked over the whole surface and through every opening, with nothing polished flat anywhere on it.

Floor work beside a wall or at the foot of a stair, set clear of it so the openings read through. A dark ground behind it. A pierced colourless rock on a pale wall has no holes at all. Light from behind is what turns the openings into a drawing; light from in front leaves them as dents. What carries is the silhouette; the openings resolve one at a time as you come near.

Cutting Further Through, and Three Parts to Stack

Making a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks, and making a bespoke one 5–6. Say the word and the openings are cut further through, the stone is changed, or the two supports are made as one. Cut the openings further through and the body between them is drawn heavier, because what is left is what holds the rock up. Three crates, the plate laid first, the block set on it and levelled, and the rock lowered on last. Two people for the rock and two for the supports, and the openings are not handles. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A clear rock worked through with openings joins our organic sculptures; its colourless body sets it with our resin sculptures, and floor space with light behind it serves it best among our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
