Clear Pierced Low Splash Cast Resin Sculpture (36cm) by Giant Sculptures, wave-like form with pierced openings and flame-like fingers, on a plain white background.
Clear Pierced Low Splash Cast Resin Sculpture - 36cm $1,88300
Description

A colourless splash, wider than it is tall, pierced right through in several places. One end is a mass of fingers with two broad ovals high up and a small round hole near its foot, and it sends a long arm up and out across the open middle; what faces it is a tall plume of fingers with openings of its own, while short fingers crowd the low trough between them. From front to back it is no deeper than a hand, and it has no base of its own, so the tabletop or shelf beneath it becomes part of the piece.

Wider Than It Is Tall and Cut Right Through

Every hole in this one is a decision that cannot be taken back. A piercing removes material from a casting that is already only a hand deep, so each one is placed where the form still has enough material round it to look solid and, at the same time, where it actually reads from the front. Those two requirements pull in opposite directions: the strongest place for a hole is low and central where the mass is, and the place it reads is high and near the edge where the light comes through. The distribution here is the compromise, and it is drawn on the finished form rather than on the pattern, because a hole in the wrong place cannot be filled.

Broader than its height and very shallow, it wants a surface it can be seen across rather than one it stands on. A coffee table, a long shelf or a window ledge all put the piercings against something bright, which is the whole of it. Set against a solid wall the holes go dark and the piece reads as a single mass. It asks for only a short run of surface and almost no depth, which most tables and shelves already have free.

Piercing, a Tint, and Getting It Home

Our workshops take 3–4 weeks over a standard piece and 5–6 over a bespoke commission. It is pierced in several places on a body barely a hand deep, so every hole is a hole in almost all the material there is. The number of piercings is chosen with the order, and a tint can be given to the body as well. The holes can also be left out altogether, which makes it a heavier object in every sense. It travels in one padded box with the arm sleeved and the whole outline bedded, and one person lifts it out by the foot. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Openings cut right through a body broader than its height set this clear splash beside our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
