Description

This side table is a pillar of clear resin worked as though eroded, textured over its whole surface and pierced right through in several irregular openings, with a narrow ledge projecting on one side and a small dished oval top set on the crown, and the openings let the room show straight through it.

An Eroded Pillar Pierced Right Through

The erosion is modelled over the whole form and the openings are opened in the mould rather than cut afterwards, so their inner faces carry the same worked surface as the outside. Holding the wall even around openings of that size is the difficulty: the material narrows between them and a thin patch would show as a bright band. Every face is polished, the insides of the piercings included, and they are reached by hand. The dished top is worked flat-bottomed inside its own rim and the foot is faced flat, so the piece stands true on a hard floor.

At 72cm this stands beside a chair as a drinks table, or alone in a hall where the piercings can be seen against the light. It wants light from behind or beside it, because the openings are what the piece is and a flat wash closes them up. It bears on a small footprint for its height, so a hard level floor suits it and a walkway does not.

The Piercings, the Ledge, and Handling It

Where the piece is standard the build is 3–4 weeks, and where it is bespoke 5–6. Most of it is the pierced pillar. Three elements are left to you. The number of piercings can be cut back or taken further, the ledge is set at another height, and the top is offered flat instead of dished. Top span and pillar height are cut to your figures. Nothing holds the placing of the openings between separate orders. Packing is shaped to the projecting ledge and pushed through the open piercings so nothing bears on a thin section, and two people carry it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

An eroded pillar with daylight through its piercings belongs with our organic sculptures; beside a chair it acts as a drinks table in our art furniture, and its glassy wall stands with our resin sculptures.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
