The Clear Petal Shell Resin Swivel Chair puts one cast shell where a seat and a back would normally be two parts. The shell folds up into four broad petals with turned-out tips, dips to a shallow seat pan in the middle, and carries a dark line along its whole edge. It meets a slim metal column on a weighted disc, and the chair both swivels and rises on a gas lift.
The four petals are not identical: the two at the back rise higher and sit closer together to give something to lean against, and the two at the sides turn out further to clear the sitter's arms. The dark edge line follows the whole rim, including the turned-out tips, and it is the sharpest feature on an otherwise soft form. Colour appears as swirls that follow the fold of each petal rather than crossing it, and no two shells fall the same way, so the pattern is not something that can be specified from a drawing. The shell is polished on both faces, because the underside of the pan is in plain view from across a room, and it meets the column on a flat fixing plate rather than a spider.
At 80cm overall it sits in the proportion of a vanity chair rather than a dining one. It suits a dressing table, a bedroom window or a study, and the swivel means it needs no room to be pulled out and turned. The open petals leave the sitter's back visible, so it reads as an object from every side and does not have to be pushed against anything. It is a chair for a sitting, not for a working day. Indoor use only.
Delivery follows a 3–4 week build as standard, or a 5–6 week build if bespoke. Shell and column are chosen independently, which is the point worth understanding before ordering, because the two decisions pull in different directions. Five shell tints are made: colourless, black-swirled, amber, blue-inked, and a green-to-blue graduation. Four column and disc finishes are offered: satin brass, brushed brass, polished chrome and black. A colourless shell on polished chrome disappears into a room; the amber shell on brushed brass is the warmest pairing and the black-swirled shell on a black column the most graphic. A fixed column is substituted for the gas lift where a set height is wanted, which is the sensible choice at a dressing table used by one person. The chair arrives with shell and column separate and goes together with four bolts through the fixing plate, a ten-minute job for one person with the shell face down on something soft. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A four-petal shell on a gas-lift column earns this chair its place among our art furniture; the column and weighted disc tie it to our metal sculptures, and the turned-out petals to our organic sculptures.

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
