The shell of this chair is clear polycarbonate shaped as an open flower: five broad petals rising out of a shallow seat, their edges waved so the rim turns in and out as it goes round. It sits on a chromed column with a lever under the seat, and the column stands on a chromed trumpet foot rather than a spread of castors. The shell is the only part that is not metal.
Polycarbonate is not acrylic and does not behave like it. It takes a curve without crazing but it will not polish to the same edge, so a petal rim is finished by hand where an acrylic one could be flame-worked. The five petals are formed from one blank, which is why the seat has no seam at its centre, and the wave is set while the sheet is still warm instead of cut into a cold edge - a cut wave shows as a bright line and a formed one does not. Column and foot are chrome over steel and are made as a pair, since two chrome baths will not give quite the same tone and the join between them is at eye level once you sit down. The shell meets the column through a plate that carries under the seat rather than at one bolt.
A chair with a foot instead of castors stays where it is put, so this suits a desk you sit at rather than one you roll along: a home office, a dressing table, a corner where a chair has to look like something when nobody is in it. The shell registers as an edge and a curve rather than a solid, which keeps a small room open. At 87cm the back petal stands above most desk tops, so leave headroom if it is going under a shelf. Set it where side light can find the waved rim.
Once ordered, a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke one 5–6. Shell tint is set at order: the polycarbonate is offered clear, in a smoke, in an amber or in a soft rose, and the petal count can go from five to four or six. Rim wave depth is open and a plain rolled rim is available. The column comes in this chrome, a black powder coat or a brushed finish, and the trumpet foot can be exchanged for a four-arm base. Where the column is to be fixed rather than adjusted, seat height is cut to order. Shell and column travel in one carton and go together on site with four bolts, which one person can manage. Nothing is glued. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A shell shaped as an open flower belongs with our organic sculptures; a chrome column rising from a trumpet foot leads to our metal sculptures, and a desk chair that stays where it is put joins our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
