Description

A colourless summit rises at the left, and from it the ground steps down in folds and shelves for the whole run of the piece, thinning to almost nothing at the right. Nothing is added to the resin, so the fall is drawn entirely in polished faces and shadow. There is no base, and none is needed.

A Summit and Everything It Sheds

The interest of this form is the fall, not the summit. From the crown the ground drops away in a sequence of shelves, each stepping down from the last, and the polish picks out every one of them as a bright line, so the eye follows the mountain down the way water would. Leaving the resin untinted keeps that sequence crisp, where colour would fill the shelves and soften them. The summit is drawn steep and narrow so that the run beside it reads as a descent rather than as a second range.

With its summit at one side, the piece has a direction, and it reads best where people come in on the summit side, so the descent runs away from whoever approaches. A hallway sideboard, a credenza or a console by the way in suits it, and light from the summit side throws each shelf into relief.

Which Way It Falls, and Shipping

Every standard piece is made in 3–4 weeks, and every bespoke commission in 5–6. Either side can carry the summit to suit the room, the body can take a scatter of gold leaf, and the resin can be tinted. The fall can run on for longer or stop nearer the peak, and frosting the faces turns the shelves into soft steps instead of bright lines. It is delivered in a foam-cradled case with the peak protected and the fine tip double-wrapped, and it is a two-person carry. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A clear summit shedding its ground in shelves belongs with our organic sculptures; an untinted fall of polished folds sets it among our resin sculptures, and a direction that runs from the doorway suits our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
