Clear Pale Heartwood Log Resin Sculpture, 45cm, with pale cream timber and black bark edges encased in clear polished resin, shown against a plain white background.
Clear Pale Heartwood Log Resin Sculpture - 45cm $3,71200
Description

The timber in this block is a pale pinkish cream running the full height, closer to the colour of unfinished plaster than of wood, with a black bark band down each side of it. Colourless resin surrounds the log and the block is polished flat on every face, so the pale timber reads at full strength against the dark edges.

Pale Pink Heartwood Against a Black Bark Edge

Most log sections give brown. This one gives a pale pinkish cream, and the contrast it makes with its own bark is a hard one, because the bark is very dark and the timber very light with almost nothing in between. The grain is fine and straight with only a faint figure, which keeps the face reading as a flat colour rather than a pattern, and any small knot on it shows clearly for the same reason. The bark bands are narrow here, so the pale field is wide. The materials are a timber section and an imported clear resin, and the block runs tall on a square footprint.

At 45cm the flat top is at a comfortable height beside a high-armed chair or a bed. The pale timber makes it an easy block to place: it lifts a dark corner, holds its own in a bright room, and sits as happily against a dark wall as a light one. It sits well with linen, oak and off-white plaster. It is heavy for its size and stays where it is set down. Indoor use only.

Why the Pale Timbers Are Specified by Batch

Give it 3–4 weeks as a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks as a bespoke commission. Pale timber is a difficult thing to repeat, and it is worth knowing why before ordering a pair. A cream heartwood like this varies from log to log far more visibly than a brown one does, because there is less colour in it to absorb the difference, so two blocks cut from different logs can sit noticeably apart in tone while two brown ones would look alike. Pale pieces are therefore selected in batches, and if two or more are wanted they are cut from the same log and ordered together rather than separately. Ordering a second one later gives a comparable block, not a matching one. Bark width is specified narrow as here or broader for a heavier frame to the pale face, and block heights are made to order. It is delivered standing in a fitted case and is better unpacked at floor level than lifted onto a bench, because a pale timber shows a knock where a dark one hides it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Plaster-pale heartwood framed in black bark joins our organic sculptures; the clear block brings it into our resin sculptures, and the cube itself into our abstract sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
