Clear Open Splash Crown Cast Resin Sculpture (120cm) by Giant Sculptures, a clear resin wave-form piece with slender arms rising from a cupped base, shown on a plain white background.
Clear Open Splash Crown Cast Resin Sculpture - 120cm $5,46500
Description

A crown of water caught at full height: a deep cup at the foot, then arms leaving it on every side and climbing far above it, all of it colourless. The cup is nearly closed at the bottom and opens as it climbs, so the arms are already spreading before they leave it. They do not stop together: the tallest three go on well past the rest, and the shortest stand up from the low side of the rim and end only a short way above it.

The Cup Carries the Whole Rise

Most of the material in this piece is in the bottom third of it. The cup is the thickest section anywhere on the object and it is carrying everything above it, which is the ordinary way a splash form has to work: the water that is still gathered is what holds up the water that has already left. What that means in practice is that the cup cannot be treated as the plain part. It is the one element whose wall must not vary at any point around it, because a difference shows as a change in how much light comes through the foot, and the foot is the brightest thing on a colourless piece. The arms above it are drawn afterwards and are the easier half of the work.

At 120cm it reads from across a room and loses nothing close to, so the floor suits it better than a surface. Put on a table it arrives somewhere above head height and the inside of the cup, which is the best part of it, is lost entirely. Standing free on a floor, or on a plinth barely off it, it is met at the height it was drawn for and the arms separate properly against whatever is behind. The cup gathers onto a compact foot while the arms spread well past it higher up, so allow for the spread and not the foot.

Cutting It to Height, and the Crate It Comes In

Plan for 3–4 weeks on a standard piece and 5–6 weeks on a bespoke commission. The cup at the foot carries the whole rise and is the thickest section in the piece. The height is cut to order, a tint is carried through the cup and let go before the tips, and a version with fewer and heavier arms is made. The spread of the arms is set against the height so the piece stays in proportion wherever it is cut. It travels upright in a case made to the spread of the arms, every one of them faced and packed apart, and two people take it out by the cup and stand it down with nothing to fix. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A crown caught wide open is organic sculpture at full stretch; the material is resin sculpture; and at this height it takes its place among indoor sculpture.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
