Clear Mountain & Reflection Cast Resin Sculpture - 85cm, black-veined peaks mirrored above a black marble stand, on a plain white background.
Clear Mountain & Reflection Cast Resin Sculpture - 85cm $2,36200
Description

A colourless range stands over its own inverted reflection, the two meeting at a waterline. Both halves are ink-veined in black and the lower half is softened and broken where the upper half is sharp. Black marble forms its stand, and the stem of the reflection rises from the middle of the block.

The Reflection Is Cast, Not Mirrored

The lower half is a real casting and not a mirror, which means it has to be wrong in exactly the way a reflection is wrong. A true inversion looks like a printing error: the eye knows that water softens an edge, breaks a line and loses the small detail, and it notices at once when none of that has happened. So the summits underneath are drawn from the ones above and then blunted, the veining is let run where it is tight above, and the waterline itself is left slightly uneven. The piece is judged on that line and on nothing else.

The waterline runs horizontally through the middle, so the piece has to be met level for the two halves to separate. Looked down on, the reflection foreshortens into the range and the whole idea collapses; met at the eye it opens. A console or a sideboard at seated height is right, a low coffee table is not. It needs a long run, and the marble under it is about half its length.

The Waterline, a Tint, and Delivery

Work on a bespoke commission runs to 5–6 weeks, on a standard piece to 3–4. The reflection is a second casting rather than a mirror, so it is drawn soft and broken where the range over it is sharp. The waterline is set further up the range or further down, the ink is taken to a blue, and the marble is cut to other sizes. A version with the reflection left sharp is made and reads as a double range rather than as water, which is the comparison worth seeing. It travels as two crates with the marble flat and the range upright, and the range is lowered onto its base on site. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A colourless range mirrored at a waterline belongs with our organic sculptures; black ink run through both halves sets it in our resin sculptures, and a horizon of water seen level suits our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
