Clear Mossed Stump Resin Sculpture (60cm) by Giant Sculptures, a clear resin block encasing a wide stump with mossy dark bark and olive-gold heartwood, on a plain white background.
Clear Mossed Stump Resin Sculpture - 60cm $4,32000
Description

This rectangular block holds a wide stump section whose dark bark carries patches of green moss. The heartwood between the bark edges is strongly figured in olive and gold, one flank of the stump is scooped into a natural hollow, and the top shows a large pale end grain disc with its rings running out to the edge.

Moss Held on the Bark of a Wide Stump

The moss is the point of this piece. It sits in patches on the bark rather than covering it, green against near-black, concentrated where the bark is roughest and absent where it is smooth. Because the resin around it is colourless the moss reads at its own colour rather than through a tint. The stump itself is a broad section, and its natural hollow on one flank leaves a pocket of clear resin where the eye passes straight through the piece. The figuring in the heartwood is strong, with olive and gold running the height of the face.

At 60cm, and low, it is a bench-side or hall piece rather than an upright one: it sits along a wall, at the foot of a bed, or under a window, and the long flat top takes a tray, a stack of books and a lamp together. It reads best where the moss can be seen at close range, so a position people pass rather than only look at from across a room. It suits stone, plaster and unfinished timber. Indoor use only.

The Moss: Dried, Held, and Not Living

Once ordered, a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke one 5–6. The obvious question about a piece with moss in it is whether the moss stays alive, and the answer is no: it is dried and held in the resin, so it needs no water, no light and no attention, and it will not grow, spread or die back. It keeps its colour indoors indefinitely and it is the one surface on the piece that cannot be damaged by handling, because it is not exposed. What can be specified is coverage, from a few patches as here to a bark face largely green, and the stump section itself, since a wider one gives more timber and a narrower one more clear resin at the ends. Block proportions are made to order on this rectangular plan. It travels flat in a fitted crate on its base and is lifted by two people at the two short ends, and it wants a level surface, since a long block bearing on an uneven floor will rock at one end. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Moss on dark bark makes this low block a natural choice from our organic sculptures; the clear surround brings it among our resin sculptures, and its long, flat proportion among our abstract sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
