Clear Molten Rim Hollow Cast Resin Low Table (130cm) by Giant Sculptures, showing its dished face and uneven rippled rim against a plain white background.
Clear Molten Rim Hollow Cast Resin Low Table - 130cm $17,34900
Description

This round low table is a hollow drum of clear resin whose side and rim slump in thick, uneven molten folds around a smoother dished face set within the raised edge. Its wall is kept to one even thickness, so the resin sits at the surface where the eye meets it, and none is wasted deep inside where nobody would see it.

A Molten Rim Round a Dished Face

A hollow casting of this diameter is harder than a solid one: the wall has to stay even the whole way round or a thin patch reads as a bright band from the outside. The molten rim is modelled into the mould and the dished face is worked flat inside it, so the two meet on a true arris. Every face is polished, including the inside of the dish, which is looked into more often than at. The rim is worked back by hand until no point on it is sharp enough to catch, which on a molten outline is the long part of the finishing.

It is a low table for a room's centre, and the dished face will hold a tray without it sliding to the rim. Being hollow it is easier to shift than a table this wide looks, and it reads best on a dark floor where the molten rim separates from the ground. Being round it has no wrong side, and the rim is the same the whole way round it.

The Rim, the Hollow Wall, and Moving It

Our workshops take 3–4 weeks over a standard piece and 5–6 over a bespoke commission. Most of it is the molten rim. There are three open questions. A thicker wall can be specified, the molten rim can be worked rougher still, and the resin can be tinted all through for anyone who would rather it were not clear. The top span and the drum height are open figures. Batched together, the pieces are made so the run of the molten rim corresponds. The drum is hollow, so it is lighter than a table this wide looks: the molten rim and the dished face go in boxed clear and two people carry it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A molten rim round a hollow clear drum gives our art furniture a low table; its slumped edge answers our organic sculptures, its colourless body our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
