Clear Lying Stag with Swept-Back Antlers - 61cm, resin sculpture with head tipped back and antlers swept low toward the haunch, shown on a plain white background.
Clear Lying Stag with Swept-Back Antlers - 61cm $3,64500
Description

The stag in this resin sculpture lies with its legs folded away beneath the body, its neck raised and its head tipped back until the muzzle points straight up. Instead of rising, the antlers sweep straight back from the crown, almost level, and run out above the line of the back towards the haunch, so the rack is carried low rather than over the head. It is colourless and polished throughout.

Antlers That Reach Out at Knee Height

Antlers swept back over a lying animal are the awkward case, because they are unsupported over their whole length and they end up at exactly the height a passing hand travels. Section is the answer and it has to be judged rather than calculated: the beam is cut heavier at the brow than a standing stag's would need, and each tine is brought to a blunt rather than a needle tip, which costs a little of the silhouette and is worth it. Each antler is made on its own and fixed into the skull, and its reach is checked with the animal lying rather than on a bench, since only in that position can the gap between the lowest tine and the back be seen at all.

You look down on it, which puts it on a hearth, a coffee table or the floor beside a chair rather than anything at waist height. From standing height the tipped-back head and the swept rack read as one long curve, and that is the reading the pose was cut for. Keep the end of the rack clear of a walkway, since it reaches further back than it looks. Against a dark floor the silhouette comes forward and the polish shows as a run of highlights; on a pale carpet the animal picks up the colour beneath it.

Antler Reach, Colour and Placing It Low

Once ordered, a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke one 5–6. How far the antlers reach is decided at order, and the lying animal can be made with no antlers at all. The angle of the head can be brought forward to rest on the flank. The resin will take a rose, a green, a smoke or an amber, and the polish can be replaced by a frost. A standing or a grazing stag in the same polish can be made to go with it. Any size is cut to order. It travels lying in a fitted crate with each antler cased apart and seats by hand; two people should place the body and one carries the antlers. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A stag at rest with its legs folded belongs with our deer statues; antlers swept back almost level lead to our animal sculptures, and a low clear piece to set beside a hearth joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
