Clear Lobed Top Broken Ice Low Table, 125cm, with a faceted icy resin base and smooth lobed interior, shown on a plain white background.
Clear Lobed Top Broken Ice Low Table - 125cm $10,59800
Description

Chipped and faceted all over its outside, this oval shell of clear resin has a top worked into large, soft, undulating lobes inside a gently raised rim. The lobes are broad rather than fine, so the top reads as a slow swell rising and falling, and the whole shell is cast hollow.

Soft Lobes Inside a Rough Shell

The lobes are worked broad and shallow into the upper mould face, and a broad lobe is harder to hold than a fine ripple: the material has to stay even across a long slow curve where a fine one is supported by its neighbour. The outside is broken to the family's faceted surface. It is cast hollow through an oval hemisphere, so the wall has to hold its thickness where the plan pulls in at both ends. The rim is worked up round the outline and the bearing line ground true across the whole oval.

It sits along a sofa rather than square to it, and its narrow axis is the one that decides whether it will pass a doorway. The broad lobes hold a shadow that a fine ripple does not, so the top changes through the day. Being cast hollow it moves far more easily than a shell of this plan looks as though it should, which matters in a room in regular use.

The Lobes, the Hollow Wall, and Moving It

Making a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks, and making a bespoke one 5–6. The bulk is the lobed face. Three elements are left to you. The lobes can be worked shallower for a quieter top, the tint is open, and the wall can be run thicker where the piece is to be moved often. The oval length and the shell depth are open figures. Where two or more are ordered, the swell of the lobes is worked to the same depth across them, though no two shells break alike. Before the lid goes on, the lobed face and the rough shell are wrapped, and being hollow it weighs far less than a solid piece of this plan would. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Soft lobes swelling across a broken-ice shell give our art furniture a low table; the slow swell suits our organic sculptures, the hollow shell our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
