Clear Knotted Heartwood Log Resin Sculpture - 40cm, encased wood block with honey heartwood, two knots, black bark edges, set against a plain white background.
Clear Knotted Heartwood Log Resin Sculpture - 40cm $3,78000
Description

The broad face of this block is a warm honey heartwood carrying two knots, one high and one low, with narrow black bark bands closing it at each side. A thin pale sapwood line traces the boundary between bark and heartwood on both edges, and the top is a clean disc of end grain.

Two Knots on a Broad Honey Heartwood Face

The knots are what this block is for. They sit at different heights and different distances from the centre line, so the face has a rhythm to it rather than a symmetry, and each one is a dark eye in an otherwise even field of honey-coloured timber. The pale sapwood line at each edge is only a few millimetres wide but it separates bark from heartwood cleanly, so the three materials of the log read as three distinct bands. The grain is straight and fine with no strong figure, which is why the knots carry so strongly.

At 40cm it sits low and steady on its broad square foot, with a flat top roomy enough for a reading lamp and a tray. The honey timber makes it easy to place: it warms a pale room and holds up in a dark one, and it sits well with oak, wool and unpolished brass. Turn the knotted face to the room, since the opposite face is plainer. It is heavy for its size and stays where it is put. Indoor use only.

Knots, and What Counts as a Fault

Most pieces are standard and take 3–4 weeks; a bespoke commission takes 5–6. A knot is where a branch left the trunk, and in a piece like this it is the feature rather than the defect, so it is worth being clear about what would and would not be replaced. A sound knot, even a dark one, even one with a small crack running out of it, is part of the timber and is left as it is. A knot that has fallen out entirely, leaving a hole, is not, and that log is not used. What cannot be specified is where the knots fall: they are the tree's own, so a repeat order gives a knotted face but not the same one. If a plain face is wanted, a clear-grained log without knots is available and costs the same. Bark width is set narrow as here or broader, and block heights are made to order on the same square. Delivery is standing, and its broad square base sits flat on most floors without a pad. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Two knots in honey heartwood make this a natural pick from our organic sculptures; the resin body sets it alongside our resin sculptures, and the squared outline beside our abstract sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
