Clear Knob-Maned Beast Cast Resin Sculpture, 27cm, seated upright with curled knob mane and scrolled tail plume, clear resin finish, on a plain white background.
Clear Knob-Maned Beast Cast Resin Sculpture - 27cm $1,55200
Description

This cast resin sculpture sits bolt upright, chest forward, both forelegs straight under it. Its head is a mass of curled knobs running from the brow over the crown, with a raised crest above them and a short muzzle below; behind it the tail lies flat against the haunch as a scrolled plume. The body is smooth by contrast, with the ribs and the shoulder barely indicated. It is clear resin throughout, polished, with no leaf and no colour.

A Head That Is All Knobs

A field of knobs on a clear head is read twice over - once as relief and once as refraction through the material - so the knobs have to be cut to one depth and one spacing or the head fills with light unevenly and looks damaged. They are worked from the crown down, each undercut at its edge, and the crest is cut last so it can be sighted against the finished mass behind it. The smooth body is the harder half to get right. With nothing cut into it, a flat spot shows up as a highlight in the wrong place, so chest, flank and haunch are brought up together as a single surface and sighted along the length.

Twenty-seven centimetres is a shelf, desk and cabinet height, and this one wants to be met from the front, where the head is symmetrical and the crest reads. It wants light from behind: with a window or a glass shelf at its back every knob takes a highlight of its own, and on a solid shelf under a downlight the head closes into one grey mass. It sits well beside books or as one of a pair flanking something.

The Four Beasts, the Colour and How It Travels

From order, a standard piece runs to 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission to 5–6. It is one of four, and the other three are cut to the same hand, so the group can be assembled over as long as you like. The body is made clear as here, in an amber, in a smoke or in a green, and gold or silver leaf can be suspended through the resin. A base is offered under the animal where a plinth is wanted. Sizes go up from this one to a floor-standing guardian. It arrives boxed with the crest and the tail protected and nothing to put together; take it under the haunches. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A beast whose head is a mass of curled knobs belongs with our classic sculptures; a crest raised over the brow leads to our figurative sculptures, and clear resin with nothing in it joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
