The Clear Ink-Swirled Ribbon Resin Sculpture is a notably flat form: a broad ribbon standing on end with four openings cut through it, two side by side near the top, a narrow slot at the waist and an oval low down. The clear resin is swirled through with black ink so the piece reads black and white from a distance and glassy at close range. It stands on a black marble base supplied with it.
The four openings are the design and they are deliberately unequal: the largest sits high beside a second, narrower oval, the waist one is a narrow slot, and the lowest is an oval turned off the vertical. Between them the ribbon widens and narrows, so the piece has a rhythm reading up it rather than a symmetry. It is shallow for its height and close to two-dimensional from the side, so it will stand on a narrow shelf. The ink swirls follow no repeating direction and they are denser at the base than the top. Clear resin and a black marble base are the only two materials in it.
At 83cm overall this stands well up for a shelf or console piece, and the height matters: on a sideboard it reads at standing eye level, which is where the openings line up best. It needs a plain background for the openings to register and it is at its best where light comes from behind or from one side. The flat form means it can go close to a wall without losing anything. Indoor use only.
From order, a standard piece runs to 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission to 5–6. The swirl is the part of this piece that cannot be specified. The dark is dispersed through the clear body rather than applied to it, and it settles differently every time, so the balance of black to white and the direction of every stroke are particular to the one you receive. A repeat order gives a swirled piece, not this swirled piece, and where two are wanted as a pair they are made together and chosen against one another. What can be specified is the density: light, where the piece reads mostly clear with a few dark passages, or heavy as here, where the dark carries the form from across a room. The same ribbon is also made in an amber and teal colourway, which changes it from graphic to warm, and in gold-flecked colourless, in green and in teal, with further tints on request. A pale stone base is offered where the black would be too much against a light wall. It travels in a fitted foam shell with the base packed separately, and the thin sections either side of each opening are the parts to keep away from a hard edge. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A flat ribbon pierced four times belongs with our abstract sculptures; openings that climb it unequally set it among our organic sculptures, and black ink swirled through a clear body suits our resin sculptures.

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
