Clear Ice-Cut Lion Column Resin Sculpture, 98cm, with a small lion atop a faceted resin shaft flecked with gold leaf, on a plain white background.
Clear Ice-Cut Lion Column Resin Sculpture - 98cm $3,37600
Description

A small guardian lion with gold glinting in its mane sits on the flat cap of a square column, whose faces are cut into shallow irregular planes so its edges waver like a block of broken ice. Gold leaf is caught through the shaft at different depths, some flakes bright and some dulled to olive where they lie deep. The column comes with the lion as one piece.

A Lion on a Shaft of Broken Ice

Cutting the faces rough is a one-way job: a plane taken too deep cannot be put back, so the facets are worked shallow first and deepened only where the outline needs it, with the four arrises kept straight so the shaft still reads as square. Behind each facet the gold flakes shift as you move, which is the effect the rough cutting is for. The lion is cut separately with its mane in tight knots and seated on the cap last, where a flat seat lets it be set square to the room.

At 98cm the lion meets the eye of someone sitting, so the column belongs on the floor by an easy chair, a sofa or either side of a fireplace. Light from one side sets the facets flashing against each other; a downlight leaves the shaft grey. A matching pair can flank an opening, each priced on its own.

Facets, Leaf and Delivery

Time separates the two: a bespoke commission takes 5–6 weeks, a standard piece 3–4. The faces can stay rough as here or be polished smooth, and the gold can be thickened, thinned, swapped for silver or left out. The lion can be gilded, tinted or kept clear. The column and lion travel together in one crate, the lion wrapped on its own and seated by hand when the shaft is standing, and one person can manage it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A clear lion over a shaft cut like shattered ice belongs with our lion statues; facets cut rough on every face lead to our figurative sculptures, and gold dulled to olive where it lies deep joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
