Clear Horse Head with Flowing Mane on Ice - 68cm, clear resin sculpture in profile with streaming mane on a broken ice base, Giant Sculptures, light background.
Clear Horse Head with Flowing Mane on Ice - 68cm $5,87200
Description

The head is turned in profile with the muzzle low and the ears back, and behind it the mane lifts and streams away in a mass of separate locks that takes up as much room as the head and neck together. Beneath it all, the piece rises out of a rough block worked as broken ice. Everything is the same clear resin: the animal, the mane and the ice.

Half of It Is Not the Horse

Rather more than half the material on this piece is not horse. The mane is a set of individual locks, each one lifting away from its neighbours with a gap behind it, and every gap has two faces that both take the polish; on a clear casting an unpolished inner face goes grey and reads as a shadow that is not there. That is where the time goes, and it is why the head itself is finished first and the mane afterwards, working outward, since the head cannot be reached once the locks are done. The ice at the foot is left as it was cut and cracked, which is the only unfinished surface on the object and is deliberate: a rough clear mass scatters light and gives the polished head something to rise out of.

A profile head wants to be seen from the side it faces, so set it with the muzzle towards the room and leave the mane side clear of a wall - it reaches further back than the head does forward. At 68cm a desk is too shallow for it: it wants to stand on a console, on the top of a hall chest, or on a low cabinet. Light from behind is what this one is for: the ice lights up, the mane fills, and the head stays as the solid dark shape in the middle of it.

Mane Volume, the Ice and Two-Person Handling

Time separates the two: a bespoke commission takes 5–6 weeks, a standard piece 3–4. Mane volume is set at order, from this full stream to something closer to the neck, and the direction it blows is mirrored on request. The ice block can be made deeper, brought down to a low pad, or replaced by a smooth plinth or a black stone. The whole piece can be tinted, warm or cool, and the mane alone can be frosted against a clear head. Any scale is cut to order. It arrives as one item in a fitted crate; two people should lift it, taking it under the ice and never by the mane. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A horse head with its mane blown back belongs with our horse sculptures; separate wind-blown locks lead to our animal sculptures, and a head rising from clear ice joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
