Clear Horse Head on a Cut Stem - 70cm, a clear resin sculpture with flowing mane detail set on a narrow stem and small base, shown against a plain white background.
Clear Horse Head on a Cut Stem - 70cm $3,10500
Description

The head is cut off cleanly at the throat and set on a narrow stem that rises from a small foot, so the whole piece reads as a head lifted into the air rather than a bust on a plinth. The mane is thrown back from the crest in long separate locks with air between them, each one twisted and coming to a point. The face is modelled plainly by contrast: a straight profile, a small muzzle and no bridle. Head, stem and foot are one piece of clear resin, polished all over.

A Mane Cut as Separate Locks

The locks are the work. Each is a thin twisted section standing clear of the ones beside it, and in a transparent material the gaps between them matter as much as the locks themselves: a gap that closes up reads as a casting fault, and one that opens too far leaves the mane looking combed. They are set out from the crest and cut from the tip back toward the neck, which is the only direction that lets the tool reach between them. The stem is deliberately the opposite. Its outline is left notched and broken like rough rock where the head above is modelled smooth, and the change happens right at the throat, so the eye reads two materials where there is only one.

At seventy centimetres the head comes to chest height on a console or a sideboard, which is where it belongs; on the floor the stem reads as a stalk and the piece loses its lift. It faces one way and the mane closes up from behind, so set it turned into the room. Light from one side separates the locks and fills the gaps with shadow, and a window behind puts a line of light down every one of them. Keep the space above it clear: the mane is the tallest thing on the piece and a shelf close over the crest cuts it off.

The Stem, the Colour and What Arrives

Whether it is standard or bespoke sets the build: 3–4 weeks or 5–6. Mane treatment is settled at order, from these open locks to a smoother mane laid against the neck, and the stem can be made straight, twisted, or replaced with a squared plinth. Colour runs from this clear body to an amber, a smoke or a green, and gold leaf can be suspended through the stem alone. The head is made at any height from a table piece up to well over life size. It arrives in one fitted crate standing upright with the mane packed clear of the walls and nothing to assemble; lift it by the stem, never by the mane or the muzzle. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A horse with its mane twisted into locks belongs with our horse sculptures; a head lifted on a rugged stem leads to our animal sculptures, and head, stem and foot cast together join our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
