Clear Horned Beast on Carved Cloud Scrolls, 32cm resin sculpture with a horse body, dragon head, spiked mane and flared tail, each foot on a carved cloud scroll, on a plain white background.
Clear Horned Beast on Carved Cloud Scrolls - 32cm $2,42900
Description

On this resin beast the body is a horse's and the head is a dragon's. A spiked mane runs from between the horns down the neck, scales are cut over the flanks and the haunches, and the tail flares out behind in a spray of separate points. The animal stands with one foreleg raised and the other three down, and each foot lands on its own small carved cloud scroll rather than on the flat. Everything is clear resin, polished all over.

Four Feet That Land on Carved Cloud

Standing an animal on cloud scrolls is a structural decision as much as a decorative one: the scrolls are the only contact the piece has with a surface, and they are small, so each has to be brought to exactly the same height or the animal rocks. They are cut last, with the beast finished and stood on a flat bench, and taken down a fraction at a time. The mane and the tail are the slow passages. Both are made of separate points standing clear of the body, and in a clear material every one of them appears twice over, as itself and again refracted through the body behind it, so a point that is slightly out of line looks doubled rather than merely crooked.

At 32cm it sits on a desk or a cabinet top, near enough to be picked up, and it repays being set where the light can get behind it. On a bookshelf against a solid back it goes flat; on a glass shelf or in front of a window every cut in the mane comes up. It faces one way, so give it a quarter turn away from square to the room and the raised foreleg reads properly. Keep the space in front of the scrolls clear, because that is where the pose points.

Scale, Colour and How It Travels

Making a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks, and making a bespoke one 5–6. Colour is settled at order: this clear body, an amber, a green, a smoke or a colourless body with gold leaf suspended through it. A mirror-image beast can be cut to make a pair, and the mane and tail can be trimmed nearer the body for a quieter piece. Scale is open, from a desk piece up to a floor-standing beast, and above a certain size the scrolls are made as one carved plinth instead of four separate feet. It arrives in one fitted crate with the mane and tail packed clear of the walls and nothing to assemble; take it by the body and never by the horns or the tail. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A horned beast stepping on carved cloud belongs with our classic sculptures; a horse's body under a dragon's head leads to our figurative sculptures, and a clear casting doubled by refraction joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
