The lion sits with one forepaw resting on a ball and the other planted, mane curled, mouth open. What it sits on is not a plain block: the plinth is cut from the same clear material and carries a recessed triangular panel on the front face with scrollwork inside it, a run of raised bosses along each side, and a moulded foot. Animal and plinth are one continuous colourless piece.
Carving a plinth in a clear material is harder than carving the animal on top of it, because a plinth is made of flats and a flat shows everything. The recessed panel has a ground that must be dead level behind the scrollwork standing off it, and in clear resin an uneven ground reads as a shadow that moves as you walk past, so it is flatted with a rigid tool and then polished without rounding the edges of the recess. The bosses are the other slow run: each has to stand the same height and take the same polish as its neighbours, and a set of half-round shapes in a line will show one that is a fraction low from several metres away. The animal above is cut with the finer tools its curls need.
This is a formal piece and it reads best where the front face can be seen square on, so it wants a square approach: a table set facing the door, a console between two chairs, or a shelf at chest height. The plinth is part of the object, so do not put it on a second plinth or a riser: the carved foot needs to meet the surface directly. The convention is two, one to each side of an opening, and the price quoted covers a single animal. Light from the front picks up the panel and the bosses; a downlight lands on the mane and leaves the plinth blank.
Production takes approximately 3–4 weeks for a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. The plinth can be made plain, or its panel and bosses gilded against a clear body, and its height is set at order so the animal can be brought up or down. The design is mirrored on request, which is how a facing pair for an entrance is made. The lion takes gold, silver or copper leaf through the body or in the mane alone, and tints of amber, grey and green are made; a frosted finish is offered instead of the polish. Any scale is cut to order, including pairs for a doorway. Delivery is one fitted crate with nothing to put together, and it is lifted around the plinth rather than by the animal. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A guardian lion seated above a carved plinth belongs with our lion statues; a ball under one forepaw leads to our animal sculptures, and lion and plinth in one clear casting join our resin sculptures.

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
