Clear Guardian Lion on a Gilded Bird Relief Column, 135cm, clear resin shaft with gold flecks and a gilded bird-on-branch relief, on a plain white background.
Clear Guardian Lion on a Gilded Bird Relief Column - 135cm $4,32200
Description

On this column the gilded relief is spare: a single bird perches in the fork of a bare branch above a small mound, with a fainter spray of leaves below it. A guardian lion with a gilded head and a clear body sits on the moulded cap at the top, and the square shaft beneath is clear resin with a few flakes of gold suspended in it. Lion and column come together as one piece.

A Single Bird in the Fork of a Bare Branch

With so little on the shaft, every line of the relief has to carry: the branch is cut as one clean stroke that forks once under the bird, and the bird itself is modelled in the round enough to throw its own shadow. Gilding over clear resin shows any hesitation in the tool, so the branch is cut in a single pass rather than built up. The moulded cap steps out from the shaft to make a seat for the lion, whose curls are cut deep before only the head is gilded. The flakes in the shaft are few, so the clear resin itself frames the gold.

At 135cm it suits a hallway, a landing or the space beside a door, where the lion comes to about shoulder height on a standing visitor and the bird sits at chest level. A darker wall makes the clear shaft glow and the gilding stand forward. Set a pair to either side of an opening, or a single column at the end of a corridor to close the view.

Relief, Gilding and Delivery

Our workshops take 3–4 weeks over a standard piece and 5–6 over a bespoke commission. The relief can be cut fuller, with leaves and more birds, or left as this single branch, and the shaft can be made plain. The gilt may be silver or copper instead of gold; more leaf or none can be scattered through the resin, and the lion can be gilded from head to paw. The column is crated upright with the lion packed separately, and it is set up by two people with no tools. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A gilt-headed lion above a single gilded bird belongs with our lion statues; a bare forked branch traced in relief leads to our classic sculptures, and clear resin framing the gilding joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
