Clear Guardian Lion on a Gilded Bird Relief Column, 112cm, a clear resin square column with gold flecks, gilded leaves, bird and branch motifs, and a lion atop the cap, shown on a plain white background.
Clear Guardian Lion on a Gilded Bird Relief Column - 112cm $3,57700
Description

A canopy of broad gilded leaves hangs over a bird perched on a curving branch, and below them a spray of twigs runs down towards the foot of this clear resin column. The shaft is square, flecked lightly with gold, and finished at the top with a moulded cap where a small guardian lion sits, its head gilded and its body clear. The column is included with the lion.

Broad Gilded Leaves Over a Perching Bird

The broad leaves are the heaviest gilding on the piece, and they are set at the top of the scene so the weight of gold sits high and leads the eye up to the lion. Each leaf is cut with its veins and its turned edge, which keeps a large area of gold from reading as a flat plate. The twigs nearer the foot are kept fine, almost drawn, so the scene thins out as it descends. Lion and cap are worked apart and joined on a flat seat, and the polish is carried over the join so it disappears.

At 112cm the column belongs on the floor beside a sofa, an armchair or a doorway, where the lion meets the eye of someone seated and the leaves sit at the height of a hand. It suits a modest hall or a living room as well as a grand entrance. A lamp to one side picks out the veins of the leaves; against a pale wall the gold reads warmer.

Leaves, the Lion and Getting It Home

Standard pieces take 3–4 weeks and bespoke commissions 5–6. Another scene can be chosen at order, such as blossom or bamboo, or the shaft left plain with the lion alone. Copper or silver gilt can stand in for the gold, while the flakes in the resin can be packed densely or taken out. The lion may be fully gilded or entirely clear. A single crate carries the column and the lion, the lion wrapped on its own and set on its cap by hand; two people can lift it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A guardian lion above gilded leaves and a bird belongs with our lion statues; a canopy of broad leaves worked as gilt leads to our classic sculptures, and a gilded scene sealed into clear resin joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
