Clear Gold-Leaf Striding Beast on a Base - 20cm, a maned, horned creature with curled tail, gold flecks in clear resin, on a rectangular base against a plain white background.
Clear Gold-Leaf Striding Beast on a Base - 20cm $1,55200
Description

A four-footed beast caught in mid-stride, its head carried forward under a heavy mane that flows back from between two horns, and a long beard hanging from the chin. The tail curls up and away from the haunch and ends in a small flame of a tuft. Gold leaf is caught in the clear resin of both the beast and the rectangular base it stands on, and the whole piece is polished.

A Beard and Mane Carried Forward

A long beard hanging free below the chin is the awkward passage on a piece this size: it is thin, it projects, and in a clear material it shows twice, directly and again through the body behind it, so its strands are cut with a steady thickness and their tips left blunt enough to survive handling. The mane is cut as separate flowing locks, and the ones that pass behind the neck are finished to the same grade as the ones in front, which is most of the work on this piece. The horns are short, they lie back along the skull, and they are cut last so the mane can be worked without them in the way.

At 20cm with the base this belongs on a desk, a shelf at eye level or a cabinet top, and the side view is its best, where the stride and the beard make one line. It sits well at the end of a shelf or in a row of small pieces. Light from the side or slightly behind fills the mane and lights the leaf; a light from directly above closes the locks into one mass.

The Set, the Colour and Getting It Home

Ours is a 3–4 week build as standard, and a 5–6 week build when the commission is bespoke. Three more beasts make up the set, each a different animal, and they are cut to the same hand so the group can be gathered over time. The resin is made clear with gold leaf as here, or in an amber, a green or a plain colourless body, and silver or copper leaf is offered. The head can be turned to look back over the shoulder instead. Sizes go up to a floor-standing guardian. It arrives boxed with the base attached and the mane supported; take it under the base rather than by the animal. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A horned beast striding under a heavy mane belongs with our classic sculptures; a long beard below the chin leads to our figurative sculptures, and gold leaf through beast and base joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
