Clear Gold-Flecked Level-Armed Torso Resin Sculpture, 26cm, cross-shaped torso with level-cut arm stumps and gold flecks within clear resin, on a plain light grey background.
Clear Gold-Flecked Level-Armed Torso Resin Sculpture - 26cm $1,41700
Description

This cast resin sculpture is a torso with both arms cut off level at the shoulder and a short neck stump standing above them, so the whole piece reads as a rough cross when seen from the front. It is hewn rather than modelled: the chest, the back and both arm stumps are broad flat planes meeting at hard edges. The gold leaf lies within the resin rather than on its surface, scattered through the arms, the chest and the lower body alike.

Broad Planes and Gold Leaf Held in the Body

Gold leaf inside a casting is a placing problem, not a gilding one. Leaf dropped in loose drifts to the bottom of the mould and leaves the upper body empty, so it goes in against the walls of the tool where the resin will hold it, and the density is set before anything is poured. The planes are then cut into the cured block, which is the right order: cutting through a leaf-filled body exposes gold at the surface as a bright fleck rather than a smear, and a plane cut before the leaf settles would have to be cut again. Every arris is left sharp. The base is ground flat so a piece this small stands without a mount.

At 26cm the torso is a shelf and desk piece, and two or three small torsos set together are worth more than any one of them: the planes catch light at different angles and the leaf reads differently in each. Side light coming in a little above the piece is what lifts the gold out of the clear body. A dark surface underneath doubles the flecks by reflection.

Leaf Density, Plane Size and Ordering a Group

The standard build is 3–4 weeks and the bespoke build 5–6. Leaf density is set at order, from this heavy gathering to a scatter of single flecks, and silver or copper leaf is offered instead of gold. Plane size is open, which takes the piece from this coarse hewn look to something closer to a modelled figure. Scale is cut to order. Where several are ordered they are poured in one batch so the leaf reads as one family. It travels boxed and sleeved and is a one-person carry. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A level-armed torso with a neck stump belongs with our classic sculptures; hewn planes with sharp arrises lead to our abstract sculptures, and gold flecks trapped in the casting join our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
