A colourless summit stands at one end of a long run and the land falls away from it the whole length to the other, flecked with gold leaf. The far end thins almost to nothing. There is nothing supplied to stand it on, and the ridge is barely a hand deep the whole way along, so it reads as an outline before it reads as a mass.
A symmetrical range can be set down either way and still be right. This one cannot: the summit sits at one end and the land only ever descends from it, so there is a direction built in and the direction is load-bearing. Get it backwards in a room and the land appears to climb out of the corner rather than to fall into the space, which is the opposite of what was drawn. The rule is simple and worth stating because it is the sort of thing nobody thinks to ask: the summit goes on the side the room is entered from, so that the fall runs away from whoever comes in.
Because it has a direction, it wants a position with an obvious approach. The end of a hall, a console beside a door or the near end of a long shelf all give it one; the middle of a room approached from both sides does not, and half the viewers get the piece the wrong way round. It takes a long run and very little depth. Light from the summit end throws the fall into shadow, which exaggerates it usefully.
Most pieces are standard and take 3–4 weeks; a bespoke commission takes 5–6. One end carries the summit and the other is where the land runs out, so the object has a right way round and the room settles which it is. The direction is built either way at order, the fall is drawn longer or shorter against the summit, and a tint is run through the body. A mirrored version is made for a room entered from the other side, at no difference in price. It travels in one long case with the summit sleeved and the thin end double-faced, and two people carry it flat. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A gold-flecked summit at one end of a long fall belongs with our organic sculptures; the clear descent puts it in our resin sculptures, and a direction settled by the way a room is entered suits our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
