Description

A long ridge on a very shallow body, colourless and flecked with gold leaf through its three summits. The middle summit is the broadest, and the outer two fall to a thin edge. It stands on the surface itself and there is no base of any kind beneath it, so whatever it is set on is read as its ground.

A Body Shallow Enough to Read as a Face

A body this shallow against a ridge that long puts the piece closer to a relief than to a sculpture, and the consequence is that it has a face rather than an aspect. From the front it is a landscape; from ninety degrees round it is an edge barely wider than a paperback. That is not a shortcoming - it is what lets a range this long sit on a shelf at all - but it does decide how the piece is made. The far side is modelled as carefully as the near one, because a relief seen from behind has nowhere to hide, and it is finished to the same standard even though most owners will never look at it.

Having a face rather than an aspect, it wants something behind it rather than room around it: a shelf with a wall behind, a mantel, the back of a console. In the open, half the people in the room see a thin edge and nothing else. It asks for length and almost no depth, which is an easy thing to find, and a dark ground behind it brings the flecks forward.

Depth, a Tint, and Getting It Home

Expect 3–4 weeks for a standard piece and 5–6 weeks where the commission is bespoke. The body is shallow against its length, so the piece is read as a face rather than from every side. The depth is drawn greater where a fuller object is wanted, the flake is thinned out, and the body takes a tint of its own. Making it deeper turns a relief into a sculpture and doubles what it asks of a surface, which is the trade to weigh. It travels in one padded case bedded along the whole ridge with both thin ends faced, and one person lifts it flat. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
