Clear Gold-Fleck Column Cast Resin Sculpture, 180cm, with carved panel and guardian lion finial, on a plain white background.
Clear Gold-Fleck Column Cast Resin Sculpture - 180cm $10,53000
Description

Gold leaf is suspended at every depth through this cast resin column, a square shaft standing above head height, so the flakes near the surface catch as gold while the ones deeper in go dark. Below the flat cap one face carries a carved panel, its border scrolled and its field worked in low relief. A small guardian lion of the same clear material, flecked with gold, sits on the cap, and the column rests on a dark square foot.

Flecks Read as Depth at This Height

At this height the leaf stops being a decoration and becomes the way the piece is read. A tall shaft of clear resin is otherwise a plain prism, and what gives it depth is that the flakes sit at different distances from the face: near ones catch the light, far ones go dark, and the eye reads the section as a volume rather than a surface. They are laid in as the shaft is built up, a handful at a time, and the distribution is judged with the piece standing rather than lying, because flakes settle. The panel is cut afterwards into a finished face, which is the harder order to work in but the only one that keeps the surface around it flat.

At a hundred and eighty this is a floor piece standing above head height for most people, so it belongs where height is wanted: a hallway, a stair foot, the corner of a large room, either side of an opening. It needs a level floor and open space above it. The flecks want daylight from the side; under a single downlight the shaft goes flat and only the cap lights up. Against a dark wall the gold reads as a scatter of points suspended in the air, which is the best of it.

The Panel, the Finial and What Arrives

Most pieces are standard and take 3–4 weeks; a bespoke commission takes 5–6. What is cut into the panel is settled at order, and it is made to your own wording or left as a plain uncut face. The leaf comes in gold, silver or copper, or the shaft can be made clear with none at all, and a tint through the resin is available. The animal on the cap is made as this one, as a sphere, or omitted. Other heights are made to order. The shaft travels standing, cased, with the animal boxed separately and set on the cap after the column is in place; take the shaft by the body, keep it vertical, and never lift it by the cap. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A gold-flecked column under a small clear lion belongs with our contemporary and modern sculptures; a carved panel framed by a scroll leads to our classic sculptures, and leaf suspended at every depth joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
