Clear Gold Broken Ring Resin Sculpture - 42cm with glossy clear arc, rough gold ends, and brown ink drips, set on a black marble base against a plain white background.
Clear Gold Broken Ring Resin Sculpture - 42cm $1,75400
Description

A colourless ring of cast resin, opened at one side so the circle does not close, its arc polished to a clear, glassy finish. A rough gold mass is cast onto each of the two ends facing the gap, and brown ink runs down through the arc beneath them. It stands on a black marble base, which is included.

The Break Is Drawn, Not Found

A broken ring is only convincing if the break looks like something that happened to it, and in a cast object nothing happens to it: every edge of that gap was decided at the pattern stage and cut into the tool. The difficulty is that a real fracture in a brittle material runs along a surface the eye recognises, with a coarse zone where it started and a smooth one where it ran out, and a modelled break drawn freehand almost never has that. So the two faces here are drawn as a matched pair, one the negative of the other, and then the gold is laid into both. The gold is what settles it: it fills the volume the break would have left and nothing else on the piece carries that texture.

The gap is the object, so the light has to be behind it and not on it. A shelf with a window beyond, a lamp set back on the same surface, or an open run where the wall behind is pale all work; against a dark wall the ring closes up and reads as a solid disc. At 42cm it will sit on a narrow ledge or a bookshelf, where it should be met square rather than from an angle.

The Gap, the Gold, and Getting It Home

Count on the difference between standard and bespoke: 3–4 weeks or 5–6. The gap is drawn wider or almost closed, the gold is laid coarse or fine, and the ink is run heavier or left out altogether. The span itself can be drawn wider at order, which makes the break read from across a room. A frosted body is also offered and stops the light passing through the arc, which turns the piece from a drawing into an object. It travels in one flat case with the gap bridged internally so nothing bears across it, the marble packed separately, and one person lifts it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A circle interrupted is organic sculpture; the clear arc is resin sculpture; and a break lit from behind wants indoor sculpture.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
