Clear Gilded Lion Relief Column Sculpture - 156cm by Giant Sculptures, clear resin column with gold flecks, a gilded lion finial, and bird and blossom motifs, on a plain white background.
Clear Gilded Lion Relief Column Sculpture - 156cm $4,99800
Description

A gilded guardian lion sits on the flat cap of this square column of clear resin, and gold flecks are scattered through the shaft beneath it. Its front carries a gilded scene: a single bird on a slender bare branch above a low mound, and nearer the foot a spray of blossoming twigs. Lion and column come as one piece.

A Bare Branch and a Spray of Blossom in Gold

The upper scene is drawn with very little, one branch, one bird and a mound, so every line has to be cut cleanly in a single pass, since gilding over clear resin shows any hesitation. The blossom near the foot is the opposite, a crowd of small flowers and buds, each one raised and gilded separately so the spray reads as many points of gold rather than a smear. The lion is seated on a flat cap cut square to the shaft, and the gold flecks in the resin are kept sparse around the scenes so the relief stands out against clear ground.

At 156cm the lion sits just below a standing visitor's eye, so the column belongs on the floor: an entrance hall, the foot of a stair or one side of a doorway. A plain wall behind keeps the gilding legible, and light from one side brings the relief forward. Two of them make a formal pair at an entrance; each is priced singly.

Branch, Blossom and Getting It Home

A standard piece takes 3–4 weeks to make, and a bespoke commission 5–6. The relief can show other subjects, from bamboo to a band of characters to your own wording, or be omitted so only the flecks remain, and the gilding can be silver or copper. The lion can be gilded all over, as here, or left clear. The column travels upright in a long crate, its lion in a box of its own to be set in place on arrival; two people should raise it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A gilded guardian lion over a clear relief column belongs with our lion statues; a bird on a bare branch above blossom leads to our classic sculptures, and gold flecks scattered through clear resin join our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
