This cast resin sculpture is a square shaft carrying gold leaf at every depth inside the material, so the flecks nearest the front read as gold and the ones behind read as shadow. Up the front, in gilded relief, a bird sits on a leafy branch above a small mound, and a second bird perches among finer branches beneath it. The shaft finishes in a plain flat cap, and a small guardian lion with a gilded head sits square on top of it. The figure quoted takes in both the lion and the shaft.
The proportion of a column like this is decided by the animal and not the other way round. On a column this short the lion is large against the shaft it stands on, so the shaft has to be cut thick enough not to read as a stem. That ratio is settled with both parts finished and stood up together. The relief is the other work: the gilding is laid over a surface that is already clear, where any tool mark under the gold shows through it as a dull patch. The leaf inside the resin is set as the shaft is built up, which is why it sits at different depths instead of lying in one plane.
This is a hall and doorway piece. At 69cm it stands on a console, a chest or a broad windowsill rather than on the floor, with its relief turned toward the way people come in. A pair can stand either side of a doorway. One column is what this price buys. Raking light is what brings the gold forward out of the clear resin; a light directly overhead finds the lion and leaves the shaft flat. Against a dark wall the flecks read as a scatter of points.
Count on the difference between standard and bespoke: 3–4 weeks or 5–6. What goes on the shaft is open: this bird and deer, blossom, bamboo, a band of characters, or a plain flecked column with no relief at all. The gilding comes in gold, silver or copper and the leaf inside can be left out for a plain clear shaft. The animal on the cap is made as this lion, a plain sphere or a lotus bud, and its scale against the shaft is settled at order. It ships upright in a fitted crate with the lion packed apart and seated by hand on site; lift the shaft by the body and never by the cap. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A short column under a seated guardian lion belongs with our lion statues; birds perched in gilded relief lead to our classic sculptures, and gold flakes set deep inside the resin join our resin sculptures.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
