The main element of this cast resin sculpture is a ring of clear material with an open centre, and across that opening sits a gilded medallion carrying a dragon in relief. Two scrolled volutes support the ring either side, and below it a plinth carries a second gilded plaque. Because the ring is pierced, whatever is behind the piece shows through it, and the gilded centre is the only solid thing in the middle of the composition.
An open ring is an unusual thing to finish because both faces of it are seen at the same time. Light coming through the opening lights the far side of the ring from behind, so the inside curve has to be taken to the same polish as the outside, and the two arrises that bound it have to run true all the way round or the circle looks out of shape. The gilded elements are worked separately and seated into their recesses, which is what lets the relief be cut properly: a dragon at this scale needs undercutting round the mane and the claws, and that cannot be done inside a finished ring. The volutes are the piece's weak point and are given a generous section where they meet the ring, which is a proportion decided by eye rather than a rule.
A pierced piece needs something worth seeing through it, so the best position is against a plain wall at a distance from it, or on a surface in front of a window where daylight comes through the ring. Set flat against a busy background it loses the effect entirely. At 57cm a broad console or a sideboard suits it, and it reads from directly in front rather than from the side, where the ring closes to a line. A dark surface under the plinth lifts the gilding.
Work on a bespoke commission runs to 5–6 weeks, on a standard piece to 3–4. The gilding is offered in gold, silver or copper, and the medallion and the plaque can carry different metals from one another. A plain medallion with no relief is made where the dragon is not wanted, and the plaque can be left blank or omitted. Tints run through the ring in amber, smoke or green, and the ring can be frosted against the gilded centre. Scale is cut to order. The ring, the volutes and the plinth arrive assembled in one fitted crate, with the gilded faces sleeved, and two people should lift it under the plinth. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A clear roundel holding a gilded dragon medallion belongs with our classic sculptures; an open ring held between two volutes leads to our resin sculptures, and a gilded centrepiece to face a doorway joins our indoor sculptures.

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
