Clear Front-Facing Guardian Lion Resin Sculpture, 30cm, shown facing forward with curled mane and open mouth on a plain white background.
Clear Front-Facing Guardian Lion Resin Sculpture - 30cm $1,82200
Description

The lion in this resin sculpture sits square on all four feet and faces straight forward, which is the formal attitude rather than the watchful one. Its brow carries a raised crown, the eyes are wide and round beneath it, the mouth is open with the teeth showing, and a knotted collar crosses the chest. The mane is a stack of curled rows falling from the crown across both shoulders. Everything is colourless resin, polished throughout.

A Mane Cut in Rows Around a Crowned Brow

Rows of curls are the most exacting thing to cut in a clear material. Each curl is a small hollow with an undercut lip, and in a colourless casting an undercut behaves like a lens: any roughness inside it goes grey and reads as dirt rather than shadow, so every hollow is polished internally with shaped points and the piece is checked against a dark ground where a grey patch shows. The rows also have to stay rows. A curl fractionally out of line breaks the rhythm across the whole mane, which is the first thing a buyer sees, so they are laid out from the crown downwards and a row is taken right across the mane rather than curl by curl. The teeth and the collar are the finest passages and are taken to a higher polish than the body, which is why they catch light when the mane does not.

A front-facing lion is made to be met head on, so it belongs where people approach it: a hall table facing the door, a console at the foot of a stair, a desk seen from across the room. Pairs flanking a doorway are how these are used, and what is priced here is one animal. At 30cm it suits a table or a broad shelf and it needs no plinth. A dark ground behind it gives the colourless body an outline; against glass or a pale wall the mane is all that reads.

Finish, the Facing Pair and Handling

Bespoke commissions take 5–6 weeks; standard pieces take 3–4. A mirror-image lion can be cut to make a traditional facing pair with it, at any scale. The animal is offered frosted in place of the polish, and gold, silver or copper leaf can be run through the body or held in the mane alone. Tints of amber, grey and green are made. A stone or timber plinth is added where the piece is wanted at a greater height. Any size is cut to order, up to the pieces we make for entrances. It ships as one item in a fitted crate, is lifted under the chest and the haunches rather than by the mane, and one person can place it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A guardian lion seated square and facing forward belongs with our lion statues; rows of curls round a crowned brow lead to our animal sculptures, and a colourless polished body joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
