Clear Folded Face Cast Resin Block Stool, 40cm, with deep sharp-edged vertical folds and a flat top, shown on a plain light grey background.
Clear Folded Face Cast Resin Block Stool - 40cm $3,57700
Description

This stool is a rectangular block of colourless resin, its four faces cut into deep vertical folds that are sharp-edged where they turn, with a flat unworked top left as the working surface. The folds act on everything seen through them, so the block carries a shifting version of the room around it and the flat top reads as the one still part of the piece.

Four Faces Folded, One Face Left Flat

The folds are modelled into the mould rather than ground into the block afterwards, so each one runs the full height of the face and the arrises where they turn stay sharp. The block is then polished on all four faces, and the top is brought to a separate flat finish so it reads as a surface rather than as another fold. Colourless material shows every flaw, so the polishing is the long part of the build and it is done by hand from a coarse grade right through to a mirror.

At 40cm it sits low, as a stool or as a side surface beside a chair, and its flat top will hold a cup, a candle or a small lamp. Put it where something is worth seeing through it, since the folds are only readable when there is a pattern or a light behind them, and against a plain wall it closes up.

The Fold Depth, the Top, and Ordering More Than One

Build times separate standard from bespoke: 3–4 weeks against 5–6. The folded face work sets the pace here. Three aspects can be specified. The fold depth can be increased or eased back, the resin is offered tinted, and the top can be dished instead of flat where the piece is to hold something round. Top span and block height are settled at order. Several ordered together are worked so that the run of the folds down each face agrees. The folded arrises of the block must be padded first, and then it is a one-person job to walk it in. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Folded on all four faces, this clear stool belongs with our geometric sculptures, does daily work as part of our art furniture, and carries the cool clarity of our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
