Clear Fluted Petal Resin Footed Bowl - 53cm with scalloped petal rim and faceted column foot, shown on a plain white background.
Clear Fluted Petal Resin Footed Bowl - 53cm $3,84700
Description

A colourless cast bowl stands on a tall foot. The dish is a shallow open form with a scalloped rim, its wall divided into some two dozen rounded petals that swell outward and roll over at the lip, and at its centre a frosted ring marks the top of the foot. The foot is a narrow column, about half the width of the dish, cut all over in long oval facets set in vertical rows.

A Petalled Dish on a Column of Oval Facets

The whole form is built out of a single idea repeated at two scales. The dish above uses short, deep, closely spaced petals, each one a half cylinder standing proud of its neighbours, and where they meet the rim they roll over into a scallop. The foot below is worked in long oval facets, stacked in vertical rows from the underside of the dish to a square-cut base. Because the material is colourless, the facets of the foot show through the wall of the dish, doubled and displaced, and the whole object holds far more visible line than its outline suggests. Look down from above and the frosted ring at the centre of the petals frames the column below like the heart of a flower. There is no colour anywhere in it. Everything the eye reads is form.

At 53cm high this is a centre piece rather than a shelf object. It stands on a console in a hall, on a plinth in a bay window, or on a low cabinet where it can be looked into from above, and it earns a position with something behind it worth distorting, because the walls will take whatever is beyond them and break it up. The dish is shallow and open, made more for display than for holding things, and it is not for water. Set a light low and to one side and the petals throw a fan of bright lines across whatever it stands on. Indoors only.

Petal Count, Depth of Dish, and the Height of the Foot

Figure the difference between standard and bespoke at 3–4 weeks against 5–6. The petal and facet work is what takes the time, since every one is finished by hand. Three things are open at order. The petal count in the dish, which changes the character completely: a full ring as here reads as a chrysanthemum, a dozen broad petals as a lotus. The depth of the dish, from this shallow open form through to a deeper bowl that hides its own foot. And the height of the foot, which sets whether the piece reads as a bowl on a stand or as a column with a dish on top. Any diameter and any overall height can be quoted. Delivery is a single crate with nothing to assemble inside it, and two people should place the piece, one of them steadying the dish. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Petals and oval facets repeated at two scales suit our abstract sculptures; the flower it forms belongs with our organic sculptures, and the colourless casting with our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
