This display plinth is a classical column carried out in clear acrylic: a fluted shaft rising from a moulded base to a capital with a volute scrolled at each corner. The flutes run the height of the shaft and stop short of both mouldings, as they do in stone. It is cast hollow rather than solid, so the wall reads as a bright line at every edge, and the capital and base are square in plan where the shaft is round.
A classical order is all in the proportions, and a column that gets them wrong reads as a prop however well it is made. The base mouldings and the capital are formed separately and brought to the shaft, because a volute has to be worked from more than one direction and cannot be pulled out of a single mould with a fluted shaft attached to it. The flutes are cut into the cured shaft and stopped by hand at both ends, which is the detail that separates a cut column from a moulded imitation. Casting hollow is the harder route and it is the right one here: solid acrylic at this section would be heavy enough to need two people to move a plinth, and the hollow wall gives every arris a bright edge that a solid one would not.
A column plinth is a period object in a colourless material, which is what lets it sit in a room that is not period at all. At this height it puts a bust or a vase at standing eye level. It suits an entrance, an alcove, or a place either side of a doorway, and it wants a hard level floor rather than a thick carpet, since a square base on a soft pile will rock. Set it clear of a wall so the volutes read on both sides.
It takes 3–4 weeks to make as standard, and 5–6 weeks to make bespoke. The capital is offered as this Ionic volute, as a plain Doric cushion or as a Corinthian with foliage, and the base mouldings follow whichever is chosen. Flute count is set at order and a plain shaft is available. Wall thickness is open, which is the choice between a plinth one person can move and one that will take real weight. Height is cut to order, and two ordered together are made as one lot so they match. It travels upright as one piece with the capital packed proud, and one person can carry it. Levelling pads are supplied loose and go under the base where the floor is uneven. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A volute capital over a fluted shaft belongs with our indoor sculptures; a hollow column that stands level leads to our art furniture, and a classical stand for a bust joins our acrylic sculptures.

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
