Clear Fluted Drapery Sheet Resin Sculpture, 120cm, with fluted peak rising from a smooth draped fold, set on a slim plate atop a black plinth against a white background.
Clear Fluted Drapery Sheet Resin Sculpture - 120cm $6,40900
Description

A drape of colourless resin rising to a sharp peak at one side. The left half is combed into close upright flutes from the base to the peaked top edge; the right half falls away in one broad smooth fold that finishes in a flat lip. Two supports come with it, a slim plate immediately beneath the sheet and a long black plinth under that, and the plinth is the widest part of the whole object.

One Sheet Doing Two Different Things

Working half a sheet and leaving the other half untouched sets two materials against each other without changing the material. The fluted half breaks every source in the room into upright lines and returns almost nothing through itself, while the plain half stays transparent and shows whatever is behind the piece. Set side by side on one surface the two halves come off as different thicknesses of the same material, which is what gives a sheet this tall its apparent weight. The fold at the smooth end then reads as the sheet turning rather than as a separate element.

This is floor or low plinth work and it needs an approach from the front, since the fold only opens up once you are off the square. Daylight from a side window suits it better than anything overhead, which the combed half simply swallows. The plinth is long enough to want a level floor rather than a rug, and both supports arrive separate from the sheet. Standing square to it the piece is a flat sheet; a quarter turn brings out the fold running back through the body, and the combed half then registers as depth rather than as pattern.

Combing, Plinth Heights and Delivery

Whether it is standard or bespoke sets the build: 3–4 weeks or 5–6. The combing is carried over the whole sheet or left off it altogether, a colour is put into the casting, and the plinth is cut in another stone. Height is the variable, and both the plate and the plinth are cut to whatever the drape is run at. The flat end of the smooth half can be drawn out further or brought in closer to the fold. The plinth is made shallower where the ceiling is against it. Three crates, one for each element, and the sheet wants two people with the plinth already in position. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Upright sheets are what organic sculpture does at this scale, combing cut into the face is resin sculpture, and a plinth this long puts it firmly in indoor sculpture.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
