Clear Fanged Beast Cast Resin Sculpture, 27cm, seated dragon-like figure with open fanged mouth and ridged spine, clear resin finish on a plain white background.
Clear Fanged Beast Cast Resin Sculpture - 27cm $1,55200
Description

This cast resin sculpture is a beast up on its haunches with the chest lifted. Its head is a dragon's: a short muzzle, deep brows, and the mouth open wide enough to show the fangs and the tongue behind them. Spines run in a ridge from the horns, down the neck and the back, to the tail, which lies against the haunch as a flat scrolled plume. The material is clear right through, taken to a full polish, and carries nothing in it.

A Mouth Left Open

An open mouth is a hole through a solid object and it has to be finished inside, where a tool can barely reach: the palate, the tongue and the back of the fangs are all visible from the front at this size, and any one of them left rough reads as a dark patch rather than as depth. It is worked with bent points and checked with a mirror. The spined ridge is the long passage. Each spine is separate and undercut, they diminish in size from the neck to the tail, and in clear resin the ones on the far side of the body are seen through it, so their spacing has to hold even where nobody would think to check.

A shelf, a desk or a cabinet top all take it at twenty-seven centimetres, and the front is the side to meet it from, because that is where the mouth reads. Set it where light can come from the side or behind: the open mouth fills with light and the spines separate. Under a downlight the mouth goes black and the ridge closes against the back. It is a good object to put where somebody waits - beside a chair, on a hall chest - because it repays a second look at close range.

The Set, the Colour and What Arrives

Our workshops take 3–4 weeks over a standard piece and 5–6 over a bespoke commission. Four beasts make the set and no two are the same animal; they are cut to one hand, so the group can be built up whenever it suits. The body is clear as here, or an amber, a smoke or a green, and gold or silver leaf can be carried through the resin. A base is offered where a plinth is wanted, and the beast is made up to the height of a floor guardian. It arrives boxed with the horns and the spined ridge protected and nothing to put together; take it under the haunches, never by the head. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A beast with its mouth open on its fangs belongs with our classic sculptures; a ridge of spines from horns to tail leads to our figurative sculptures, and resin polished inside the open mouth joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
