Clear Faceted Slab & Dark Grey Cradle Base Bench Table - 300cm
Clear Faceted Slab & Dark Grey Cradle Base Bench Table - 300cm $33,33000
Description

This bench table has a single long top of clear cast resin, thick enough to look like a block of ice rather than a pane, its upper face worked in shallow ripples and its whole edge left chipped and faceted so the perimeter is a run of broken planes. It rests on one dark grey metal base shaped as a cradle: a deep half-round hollow is cut down into it from the top, so the slab bears on two flat-topped arms, and the cradle stands on a low rectangular base plate with a square bracket at the foot of each arm.

A Clear Slab Resting in a Dark Grey Cradle

The scale is the first fact and the structure is the second. The slab is long enough that the eye reads it as a horizon, and because it is clear the room behind shows through its whole length, broken and displaced by the ripples above and the facets at the edge. The chipped perimeter is what keeps a slab this large from looking industrial: it is irregular all the way along, so the edge catches light in short unequal flashes instead of one continuous line. Underneath, the cradle does all the carrying. Its two arms meet the slab well inboard of its ends, leaving the top to overhang at either end, and where they bear on it their flat tops show through the clear resin as two pale panels. Between them the half-round hollow opens a clear view through the middle of the table. The metal is a dark charcoal grey with a soft sheen, so it reads as a shadow under the clear top rather than as a competing object.

At dining height and generous in length, this is a dining table or a long console, not a coffee table, and it needs a room with real space: a dining room, a wide hall, a hotel lounge or a boardroom. The top is level and generous throughout. It needs to be seen along its length, so an end-on approach serves it better than a side one, and it wants light from above, which reaches the ripples and the faceted edge together. A plain floor beneath is worth having, since the whole length of it comes up through the slab. Indoors only.

The Length, the Edge, and the Metal Beneath

Count on the difference between standard and bespoke: 3–4 weeks or 5–6. The mass is the slow part. The length comes first: the slab can be cut to suit a room that cannot take it at full length, and the cradle is redrawn to match. The edge is second, from this chipped facet through to a polished arris that makes the slab read as glass, or a rippled edge matching the top. The third is the base, which can be this dark grey cradle, a polished stainless one, or two plain blocks that do away with the curve entirely. The base can also be cut to a drawing of your own. Slab length and base height are quoted together. It ships in two crates on purpose-built pallets, slab and base apart, and a slab of this length wants six people and a clear run to its position. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Cut metal in dark grey carries this slab, so collectors of our metal sculptures will recognise the base; its rippled, faceted top suits our organic sculptures, and dining tables on this scale fill our art furniture.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
