Clear Faceted Scholar's Rock Resin Sculpture - 86cm
Clear Faceted Scholar's Rock Resin Sculpture - 86cm $2,56500
Description

A colourless scholar's rock whose surface breaks into sharp planes and ice-like ridges rather than soft lobes, pierced through in several places from the crown to the foot. With no colour in it, every edge carries a bright line and the openings show the room behind. Black marble is supplied as its base.

Clear Planes Catching Hard Light

Without colour, the faceting does all the work. Every plane faces a slightly different way, so under one light the piece throws back a dozen fixed highlights rather than one moving one, and the hard edges between the planes draw bright lines across the whole outline. The openings cut across the planes, so each has angular sides rather than a smooth rim. It reads crisp and cold, more like cut ice than worn stone, and it keeps that look from any angle in the room.

Its 86cm suits a credenza or a long console, where it reaches the eye of someone standing. One strong light from one side gives every plane a different value; even light from all round flattens it. A dark wall behind makes the edges bright, and its openings need some room beyond them.

Clear or Tinted, and the Cut of the Planes

Plan for 3–4 weeks on a standard piece and 5–6 weeks on a bespoke commission. Coarse planes, a few to each face, make a bolder and more mineral piece; fine ones bring it nearer to crystal. Aqua can be laid along the edges as on the coloured version, and more or fewer openings can be cut. The black base can be swapped for a paler stone. It is crated upright with the edges padded, because a polished arris marks before anything else does, and one person can lift it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A colourless rock cut into sharp planes belongs with our abstract sculptures; a narrow piece opened from crown to foot suits our indoor sculptures, and hard edges catching light across the planes place it among our organic sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
