This drum stool is clear resin whose whole side is worked into vertical folds that fall and gather the whole height of it, with a raised lip round the top and the top face itself softly rippled. There is no separate base: the folds reach the floor and the stool stands on them.
The lip round the top is cast with the body rather than applied afterwards, so nothing shows where it rises off the seat. Each fold is drawn down the side to a depth of its own, and the roots where they meet the floor are what matter on a stool: a sitter's weight goes straight into them, since there is no base underneath to spread it. The seat itself is rippled in the casting while the underside is left flat, which is what lets the lip stand proud without the top losing its plane. Polishing gets into every undercut by hand, because a fold that turns back on itself will not take a wheel at all. The bottom edges are ground to one level last of all, so the stool sits square under a sitter.
At 40cm this is seat height for a low chair, and it takes a sitter or a tray equally well. The folds run the full height of the side, so they are seen from standing rather than from sitting down, and light from one side gives each of them an edge. Clear resin takes its colour from whatever it stands on, so the floor under it is part of what is seen: a pale rug lifts the whole body and dark boards close it down.
Bespoke commissions take 5–6 weeks; standard pieces take 3–4. Most of it is the fold undercut. There are three open questions. The folds can be run to any depth, the resin can be tinted through its body, and the raised lip can be left off for a flush top. You give the seat diameter and the lip height. Batched together, the pieces are made so the fall of the folds corresponds. The raised lip and the fold undercuts are packed first, and the crate is shaped so the stool bears on its bottom edge rather than on a fold. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Folds dripping down a clear drum give our art furniture a low stool; the falling folds suit our organic sculptures, the glassy body our resin sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
