Clear Dividing Splash Cast Resin Sculpture - 74cm, colourless branching wave form with forked pointed tips on a round base, plain light grey background.
Clear Dividing Splash Cast Resin Sculpture - 74cm $2,44200
Description

This sculpture is a colourless cast resin splash that keeps dividing, its main stem splitting and splitting again until the top of the piece is a thicket of fine points. The dividing starts low, not far above the foot, so what leaves the base as a handful of stems arrives at the top as a spray of separate ends, some forked and some drawn out to a single point. There is no tint anywhere in it, so the whole of the drawing is done by the thickness of the material and by which edge happens to be catching the light.

A Stem That Splits, and Splits Again

An arm that divides twice is three arms by the time it ends, and every one of those ends has to stand up on its own. Nothing runs through this piece to hold it: the material is the structure, and by the last division there is very little of it left. That sets the limit on how far the branching can be taken, and the limit is found by making rather than by working it out: one division too many and the end gives way before it has set, taking the rest of that arm with it. So the work runs from the foot upward, one division settled at a time, and the piece spends most of its making held at points that are cut away at the end. No two castings divide in quite the same places, and none of them can be corrected once the material has gone off.

Against a busy ground the fine points vanish, so it wants an empty field behind it. A plain wall, a blank panel or simply open air will all do; anything patterned and the ends are lost in it, and what is left reads as a stump. Placed on a console, its 74cm lifts the thicket of points to the eye line of anyone standing in the room. It repays being turned until the divisions are edge on to the way the room is entered, because that is the view in which the branching can actually be followed. One lamp placed off to the side is worth more here than anything overhead, which flattens the whole thicket into a single grey mass and hides the one thing worth seeing.

Nothing Inside It but the Material, and Delivery

A standard piece takes 3–4 weeks to make, and a bespoke commission 5–6. Many of the arms fork again before they end and the thinnest of them are barely thicker than a pencil, so each one has to carry itself. The number of divisions is drawn to order, the body can take a tint, and the arms can be drawn heavier. Height is set at order, and the piece can be supplied bedded onto a stone block instead of standing on its own foot. It ships in a single crate with the arms faced in groups and packing worked in between each group, and there is nothing to fit on arrival: it is taken out by the solid foot and stood up. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A colourless splash that forks and forks again into a crown of fine points belongs with our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
