Clear Cut Mountain Range Disc Resin Sculpture, 38cm, round clear resin disc with layered mountain ridges in low relief, frosted integral base, on a plain white background.
Clear Cut Mountain Range Disc Resin Sculpture - 38cm $2,16000
Description

A colourless disc with a range of overlapping ridges cut in low relief across the whole of its face. The nearest ridges are cut deep and hard-edged and the furthest are barely raised at all, so the range recedes into the material rather than sitting on it. There is no stand: the disc is cast with its own foot and sits on that.

Distance Cut Into a Shallow Face

The depth available here is slight, and distance has to be built inside it. A range modelled at one depth and simply scaled down toward the back does not recede; it reads as a row of the same hill at different sizes, which is what a child draws. What produces distance is the EDGE: a near ridge is cut with a sharp arris that throws a hard shadow, and each one further back is cut with a softer radius until the last is a swell with no shadow at all. Depth of cut does almost nothing by comparison. The whole range here works through very little actual relief.

It is read through as much as at, so light behind it is worth more than light on it: the ridges go dark against a bright ground and the range separates. On a shelf against a wall the relief flattens and the piece becomes a clear circle with marks in it. A window ledge, a console in front of a pale wall, or anywhere with depth behind it all work. At 38cm it sits on a ledge or a console without needing to be set back.

Cut Depth, the Tint, and Delivery

Bespoke commissions take 5–6 weeks; standard pieces take 3–4. The ridge count is drawn up or down, the relief is cut deeper for a harder shadow, and a tint is run through the body. A frosted face is offered and reverses the piece entirely, since frosting kills the transmitted light the range depends on and leaves the relief reading from the front only. It is also cast at other diameters. It is sent in one flat case on its edge with both faces protected, and one person lifts it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A range cut into a window is organic sculpture; cutting is held in resin sculpture; and relief this shallow wants indoor sculpture light.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
