In this block the log is set on the diagonal rather than square to the faces, so two broad expanses of coarse black bark meet at one corner of the block and face the room together. A golden-brown timber face runs down one side, and the end grain lies off-centre at the top as a large pale disc with the resin filling the space around it.
Turning the log through forty-five degrees is a small decision with a large effect. Square to the block, a bark-on log gives one bark face and one timber face per side; on the diagonal it gives a corner of bark that reads as a single dark mass from anywhere in front of it, with the timber pushed round to one flank as a warm accent rather than the main event. The bark on this piece is coarse, silvery-black and deeply fissured, and the diagonal shows a great deal of it. The end grain sits off-centre at the top for the same reason, which makes the top face asymmetrical and gives the block a clear front.
At 42cm the top sits at chair-arm height, and it will hold a lamp or a small tray without crowding. It is a strongly graphic block and it works against a pale wall where the bark corner reads as a dark wedge. Turn the bark corner towards the room and the timber flank towards the wall, or the other way round if the warmth is what you want. It is heavy for its footprint and stays where it is placed. Indoor use only.
Ours is a 3–4 week build as standard, and a 5–6 week build when the commission is bespoke. Because the log is fixed in the block, orientation is a decision made at order and not afterwards, and it is the one thing customers most often wish they had specified. Diagonal, as here, gives the twin bark faces; square to the block gives one bark face and one timber face per side and a centred end grain at the top, which is the quieter option. It cannot be changed once the piece is made, so it is worth deciding against the wall the block will actually stand by. Bark coarseness is chosen too, from this deeply fissured type to a smoother-barked species, and the block is made to other dimensions. Delivery is standing in a fitted case, and because the bark corner is the face that meets the room it is the face kept away from every edge on the way in. The bark is left as it came, so it will shed a little grit in the first weeks. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
With its log turned corner-on, this piece suits our abstract sculptures as much as our organic sculptures, and the colourless surround places it among our resin sculptures.

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
