Clear Closed Curl Wave Resin Sculpture - 56cm, curling into a closed ring with a crested, spray-tipped top, on a plain white background.
Clear Closed Curl Wave Resin Sculpture - 56cm $2,08500
Description

A colourless wave curls right round on itself into a closed ring, the material so pale that the piece reads as a line rather than a mass. The water rises up one side, rolls over the top in a crest set with short, rounded fingers that runs on past the rising side in a lip of spray, and plunges down the other side into a ruffled foot, leaving an open oval at the centre. It stands on the surface itself with nothing underneath it.

Almost No Colour to Help the Form

Take the colour out of a casting and the form has to do everything. The material here is as near to water as this resin is made, with no body in it to read as glass does, and at that density the object is closer to a drawn line than to a solid. That removes every ordinary way of correcting a shape: there is no depth of colour to make a section look heavier, no tint to lead the eye round the curve, and no shadow inside the material. What is left is the outline, and an outline that is very slightly wrong has nothing to hide behind.

A pale casting disappears against a pale wall, so it wants a dark ground or a window. On white plaster it reads as a faint outline and the fingers along the crest are easily missed; against walnut, a dark painted wall or a window lit from behind, the whole ring comes forward. At 56cm it sits comfortably on a chest of drawers, a deep windowsill or a low cabinet, and it repays being tried in more than one position before it is settled.

A Tint, a Rounder Ring, and Delivery

Ordinarily a standard piece needs 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. The casting carries no colour of its own at all, so the form has to hold the piece with nothing whatever to help it. A pale tint can be put into the material, and the ring can be drawn rounder or more upright at order. Even a faint tint changes the piece more than it seems to, because it gives the outline a body to read against a pale wall. It is packed in a padded box that cradles the whole ring, and it is lifted by the foot, never by the crest, and set down. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A colourless wave curled right round into a ring so pale that it reads as a drawn line sits among our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
