Clear Carved Wave Machined Acrylic Drum Table, 40cm, a cylindrical clear acrylic table with a carved breaking wave relief inside, shown on a plain white background.
Clear Carved Wave Machined Acrylic Drum Table - 40cm $4,59000
Description

This machined acrylic drum table is a solid cylinder, sawn flat and polished at both ends. Standing inside the mass, cut in relief and seen through the outer wall, is a breaking wave: a long curling crest on one side that collapses into foam, with a second, quieter crest rising beside it. The relief is cut from behind, so the wave reads as though held within clear water rather than carved on a surface, and the front face is left entirely smooth.

A Wave Standing Inside Solid Acrylic

This piece is machined rather than cast, and that decision is what makes the wave possible. The wave stands in relief inside a solid cylinder, cut from behind so that it is read through the front wall, which means the material in front of it has to stay perfectly clear and free of any tool mark. The front face is left entirely smooth for that reason. Both ends are sawn flat and polished, so the cylinder reads as a section of clear water with the wave suspended in it. The crest curls over on one side and collapses into foam, and a second crest rises quietly beside it. Machined acrylic holds an edge like this in a way a casting would not.

At 40cm it is small enough to sit beside a chair holding a glass, to carry a lamp, or to stand alone as a piece in its own right. Its whole point is the wave inside, which needs light coming through from behind or beside it; against a dark wall it becomes a plain cylinder. The two sawn ends are flat and level and will take a glass. One person can carry it easily. Keep it inside.

The Block, the Wave, and What Is Open

Order a standard piece and it takes 3–4 weeks; order it bespoke and it takes 5–6. Most of it is the carved wave. Three choices are open. The acrylic is offered tinted, the cylinder is machined to any diameter and height you name, and the wave can be cut deeper into the mass. A plain block with no relief is also made. Diameter and overall height are quoted to your own figures. Ask for several together if the height the wave reaches in the block needs to agree between them. The crate is built around the two sawn ends of the cylinder, and one person should carry it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A wave held inside a machined cylinder joins our acrylic sculptures; set by a chair to hold a glass, it belongs to our art furniture, and the frozen crest suits our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
