Clear Broken Ice Dome Cast Resin Low Table, 90cm, with faceted icy exterior and smooth flat top, shown on a plain white background.
Clear Broken Ice Dome Cast Resin Low Table - 90cm $7,15500
Description

The outside of this clear resin low table is chipped and faceted the whole way round, broken rather than shaped, and the top is a flat smooth disc set down inside an irregular raised rim. The body is a hemisphere and it is cast hollow, so light comes through the faceted wall and stops at the flat top.

Broken Ice Outside, a Flat Disc Within

The faceting is broken into the mould rather than carved afterwards, so every facet keeps the edge the break gave it and none is eased. Keeping the hollow wall even all through the hemisphere is harder than on a straight side, since the section wants to thin at the crown and a thin patch would show from outside. The inner disc is worked flat in the upper mould face and set down inside the rim, so the two surfaces meet at an arris rather than a curve. Where the dome is at its fullest it is ground true, because that line is what the piece bears on.

The dome fills the space in front of a sofa and reads as one mass from every direction, since nothing about it changes as it is walked around. The flat inner disc sits below the rim, so a glass stands in a well rather than on a plane and will not slide off a table this deep. The faceted wall throws light sideways in every direction, which suits a lamp set low beside it far better than a ceiling fitting.

The Facets, the Inner Disc, and Getting It In

Standard pieces take 3–4 weeks and bespoke commissions 5–6. The time goes on the chipped face. Three things are settled at order. The frosting can be taken to a gloss, the inner disc can be dished rather than left flat, and the tint is open. Dome diameter and dome height are each specified. Put the whole order in at once and the break of the facets carries across every piece. The raised rim and the chipped underside are wrapped first, and the crate is shaped to the dome so the piece bears on its widest line rather than on the rim. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A broken-ice dome with a flat disc set in its rim belongs with our organic sculptures; holding a glass in its sunken centre, it joins our art furniture, the faceted shell our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
