A wave at the moment it breaks: the body of it rises and curls forward, and the crest splits into a dozen separate fingers of spray that reach out over nothing. All of that is clear resin, polished, so the piece is mostly read as edges and highlights. At the foot, where the water would be turning over on itself, a small koi in amber leaps clear, and the whole wave rises from a low black block that it stands on and that comes with it.
Spray is the hardest thing to cut in a solid material, because it has to look like it is moving in something that cannot. The fingers are therefore all different: no two are the same length, none is parallel to another, and each thins at a slightly different rate, which is what stops the crest reading as a comb. They are cut from the tip inward, since a finger that breaks takes the ones beside it with it. The koi is the opposite job. It is small, it is the only thing with colour, and it has to be modelled well enough to be worth looking at closely, so it is worked as a separate piece to a finer finish than the wave and seated into the water afterwards.
A wave has a direction and wants to break into the room rather than across it, so set it where you approach from the side the spray points: a hall, an entrance, a wide landing, the end of a run of cabinets. At 120cm it suits a bare stretch of floor, or a low plinth where the crest is wanted nearer eye level. Light from behind or the side lights every finger of the crest and the koi holds its amber; a downlight flattens the wave into a grey mass and only the fish stays visible.
Every standard piece is made in 3–4 weeks, and every bespoke commission in 5–6. The koi can be made in amber or in red, green or clear to match the water, and a second fish can be added at the crest. The wave itself is made in clear resin as here or with a blue or green tint through it, and a frosted finish is offered. Its height is set at order, from a cabinet-top size to a full floor-standing scale. It arrives in one crate with the crest packed against a shaped former and the koi seated already; carry it by the body of the wave, never by the spray. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Koi at the foot of a wave belong with our animal sculptures; a crest split into fingers of spray leads to our organic sculptures, and a wave polished to edges and highlights joins our resin sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
