Clear Beast Mask Cast Resin Sculpture, 80cm, with relief-carved face and scrollwork on a stepped base, shown against a plain white background.
Clear Beast Mask Cast Resin Sculpture - 80cm $6,21000
Description

This cast resin sculpture is a frontal mask, archaic rather than naturalistic: two large round bosses for eyes, a raised ridge between them for a nose, and scrollwork curling away above and below, all worked in relief inside a circular field of round beads. Below the roundel the piece continues as a squared body carrying more of the same relief, and the whole thing stands on a stepped plinth studded with bosses. It is high-clarity resin throughout, polished, with no colour in it.

A Face Built Out of Symmetry

Everything on this piece is symmetrical about one vertical line, which is the hardest discipline in relief carving: the eye finds the smallest error between two halves that it would never notice on an asymmetrical face. The centre line is therefore established first and every element is cut in opposed pairs from it outward, the left and the right worked in the same session with the same tool so they carry the same character as well as the same dimensions. The bead field round the mask is the long job. Each bead is a hemisphere undercut at its base, there are several hundred of them, and any variation in their spacing shows as a wobble in the circle they describe.

At eighty centimetres this can sit on the floor against a wall or stand on a low plinth or a broad chest, and it is emphatically a frontal object: everything about it closes from an angle. Set it square to the room, facing the way people come in, with clear wall behind it. A lamp set off to one side is what gives the relief its depth; light straight on flattens the whole face into a pale disc. In clear resin against a dark wall the bosses each pick up a point of light.

The Relief, the Scale and What Arrives

Order a standard piece and it takes 3–4 weeks; order it bespoke and it takes 5–6. The relief is settled at order: this mask, a plain beaded field, or a band of characters cut to your own wording round the roundel. Colour runs from this clear body to an amber, a smoke or a green, and leaf can be carried through the resin or laid over the relief alone, in gold or in silver. The plinth is made as here, plain, or omitted for a piece that hangs. Sizes go up to a doorway height. It arrives in one crate upright, with the plinth packed under it and nothing to put together; lift by the body and not the roundel. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

An archaic beast mask in a beaded roundel belongs with our classic sculptures; a face built out of symmetry leads to our indoor sculptures, and high-clarity resin with no colour joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
