A chair cast in clear resin. Under the seat the material is cut away into deep arches, one at the front and one along each side, so the legs read as the springings of those arches rather than as four separate posts. Above the seat the back rises as a tall tapering panel divided down the middle, giving two rounded lobes with a narrow gap between them.
Almost everything here is decided by the arch. The front opening rises well above the knee line and the side openings are deeper still, which is why a chair with this much material in it does not look heavy: the eye goes through it rather than round it. The arch springings are generous where they meet the floor and thin as they climb into the seat, and the seat itself dishes slightly, with a soft roll at the front edge. The split back is the second idea. The two lobes rise to softly rounded tops at the same level, and the line between them is a fine seam that opens into a narrow V just above the seat. Being colourless throughout, the chair takes its appearance from what is behind and beneath it, and it reads as an outline in a room rather than as a mass.
At 87cm to the top of the back this is a dining or occasional chair and it suits a glass or pale table, where a solid chair would crowd the space. It works singly at a desk or a hall table just as well as in a set, and a single one at the end of a run of upholstered seating is a common use. It wants light from the side or from behind so the arches read as openings, and it is worth keeping clear of a dark skirting board, which fills the arches visually. Indoor use only.
Work on a bespoke commission runs to 5–6 weeks, on a standard piece to 3–4. Chairs are made in a run rather than singly, so a set of six takes no longer than a set of two, and repeat orders months later will differ slightly in tone. On the chair: the back can be made as a single undivided panel instead of two lobes, and the lobes can be set at different heights rather than level. The arches are held as they are because they are the design, though a deeper front arch is made to order. A seat pad in leather or wool is available, cut to the dish of the seat and held by its own weight, which most buyers add where the chair is for a dining table rather than for occasional use. The resin can also be tinted right through, in a smoke grey, an amber or a pale blue. The chair travels upright in one crate with the back boxed out separately, arrives assembled with nothing to fit, and is a one-person carry. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Arched clear legs and a split back put this chair among our contemporary and modern sculptures; as a seat it joins our art furniture, and its flowing arches suit our organic sculptures.

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
